Holy DIVA, Batman! I mean that in a very nice way. Hahaha! Little Gemma showed up for her Cake Smash at my Glen Allen studio here in good ol’ Virgina with lots of sass and cuteness to boot. She had so many outfits and mom had even brought in a very special settee just for the session. This little girl had it all! I loved that her mom was an Easy queen like me. She had gotten custom banners, hats, and outfits galore for her precious baby girl. I mean, c’mon… a girl only turns one year old once… right?!?

It was kind of like playing dress up. Seriously. And it was SO much fun. We had sofas, balloons, tutus, fancy dress, bathing suits and an outfit to match brother for sibling pictures! I’m telling you all… DIVA. Precious, precious diva. And a spunky one at that! Gemma was excited and I’m glad she was. I love catching these amazing personalities on my camera. Her parents will psychically be able to cherish these memories for so many years to come with the canvas, prints, and book that was ordered. Your memory may one day fail you, but your pictures will not!

If your baby needs to eat, we stop. If they need to be soothed, we stop. If they need a break, we take one. And if they don’t like a particular pose, we move on.

Because your newborn session isn’t a race to get through a shot list.

Some of the photographs I love most happen because we slowed down. Because baby was comfortable. Because mom needed a minute. Because everyone simply relaxed and let the session unfold.

Beautiful newborn photography and a calm, baby-led experience should go hand in hand.

That’s how I can create both the beautiful classic newborn portraits you imagined and the natural, connection-filled photographs you’ll treasure just as much.
