Thank You, Men and Women of the Military!

A huge THANK YOU from Jen Jacobowitz Photography to all the men and women who serve in our military.  An especially big thank you to Clayton and Audrey for making the drive from Fort Lee to Richmond for your sweet baby for his newborn photography session.  It was my absolute pleasure to serve you!

Colby was a doll, a baby doll, during his newborn session here in the studio.  His big brother and sister weren’t quite so keen on taking pictures but Colby, on the other hand, was a super star for his portraits.  Sometimes big brothers and sisters just aren’t feeling it, and that it 100% ok!  It is important, especially when older siblings are only a couple of years old themselves, to remember that they are their own little people with fears and uncertainties.  I always ask my clients to keep a realistic expectation of what may or may not go on during the photography sessions.  Clayton and Audrey did amazing with that.  I will pull every trick out of my hat but I will also be sure to always respect every person that walks into my portrait studio, no matter how tiny.

These two parents now have a gorgeous heirloom album with all of the images from their session.  They also have a fantastic hand stretched canvas of the whole family to adorn their wall.  Fifteen digital images rounded out their photography collection and Audrey was so excited to receive everything.  All three of their children are absolutely precious… but this is their last baby.  Audrey wanted to make sure that the little details that would soon disappear would be documented forever.  And they are.

Thank you, again, Audrey and Clayton for trusting me with your precious newborn baby.

Your kids don’t have to sit still for family photos. 🤎
Actually, some of my favorite photographs happen when they don’t.
When they run.
When they laugh.
When they wiggle.
When they stop to pick up a leaf.
When they climb into your lap.
When they forget I’m even there.
I don’t need your toddler to behave perfectly or your family to spend an hour smiling at my camera.
I want to see your family as you actually are.
Because years from now, I don’t think you’ll miss the perfectly posed photograph nearly as much as you’ll miss the way your little one used to run into your arms, the sound of their laugh, or how tiny they looked holding your hand.
Those are the moments I want to preserve for you.
And yes...I’ll still get the beautiful portraits where everyone is looking at the camera, too. 😉
Fall family sessions are now booking in Richmond, VA.
If you’ve been waiting for your kids to be a little easier, a little calmer, or a little more cooperative before scheduling photos—don’t wait.
They don’t have to be perfect. They just have to be yours. 🤎
